The PhysioHeart - Isolated Beating Heart Platform
The PhysioHeart is a working heart model based on isolated slaughterhouse pig hearts. The PhysioHeart model is developed by HemoLab in collaboration with the Leiden University Medical Center.
Example of the PhysioHeart setup beating in 2 chamber working heart mode The PhysioHeart model is applied for contracted research projects as an isolated pig heart phantom to create a natural representation of anatomy, morphology and physiology for cardiovascular research and medical device evaluation.
The PhysioHeart is a flexible platform providing:
• Well-controlled, highly reproducible and accurate assessment of pathophysiology, devices and/or treatment
• Early pre-market testing of (new) cardiovascular products
• Alternative to animal testing
• Education, training and diagnosis
