2019年世界計(jì)量日宣傳海報(bào)由中國(guó)香港標(biāo)準(zhǔn)和校準(zhǔn)實(shí)驗(yàn)室設(shè)計(jì)(the Standards and Calibration Laboratory, Hong Kong, P.R. China)。

2019年世界計(jì)量日的主題是“單位制——本質(zhì)的提升(The International System of Units - Fundamentally better)”。之所以選擇這一主題，是因?yàn)?018年11月16日，計(jì)量大會(huì)做出了也許是對(duì)單位制(SI)自成立以來(lái)重要的一次修訂。對(duì)包括利用量子現(xiàn)象的種種新式測(cè)量方法的研究，奠定了這一重大改變，這些新修訂的內(nèi)容將于2019年5月20日生效?，F(xiàn)在，SI所基于的這組定義都是直接與物理定律一一相關(guān)，這一優(yōu)勢(shì)讓我們可以欣然期待測(cè)量科學(xué)和技術(shù)的進(jìn)一步提升，用戶在未來(lái)多年的需求都能因此得以滿足。

事實(shí)上，從更廣泛的角度來(lái)看，計(jì)量學(xué)，作為一門測(cè)量科學(xué)，在科學(xué)發(fā)現(xiàn)和創(chuàng)新、工業(yè)制造和貿(mào)易，改善生活質(zhì)量，以及保護(hù)環(huán)境等方面都發(fā)揮著核心作用。

世界計(jì)量日是為了紀(jì)念由17個(gè)國(guó)家的代表于1875年5月20日簽署的《米制公約》而設(shè)立的年度慶祝活動(dòng)?！睹字乒s》為測(cè)量科學(xué)及其在工業(yè)、商業(yè)和社會(huì)領(lǐng)域的應(yīng)用中的合作確定了框架?！睹字乒s》的制定初衷就是在世界范圍內(nèi)保證測(cè)量的一致性，這一初目標(biāo)在今天的重要性絲毫不亞于1875年。

The theme for World Metrology Day 2019 is The International System of Units - Fundamentally better. This theme was chosen because on 16 November 2018, the General Conference on Weights and Measures agreed perhaps one of the most significant revisions to the International System of Units (the SI) since its inception. Research into new measurement methods, including those using quantum phenomena, underpin the change, which comes into force on 20 May 2019. The SI is now based on a set of definitions each linked to the laws of physics and have the advantage of being able to embrace further improvements in measurement science and technology to meet the needs of future users for many years to come.

Indeed more widely metrology, the science of measurement, plays a central role in scientific discovery and innovation, industrial manufacturing and international trade, in improving the quality of life and in protecting the global environment.

World Metrology Day is an annual celebration of the signature of the Metre Convention on 20 May 1875 by representatives of seventeen nations. The Convention set the fr amework for global collaboration in the science of measurement and in its industrial, commercial and societal applications. The original aim of the Metre Convention - the world-wide uniformity of measurement - remains as important today as it was in 1875.
